Soup Bee Poster
When my client found he had great success with the brochure that I created for him, he immediately asked me to do another job for him. This poster was a lot of fun to do, because I rarely get to do cartoon-y stuff. A breath of fresh air, and it felt good to do something again for such a great client.
Soup Bee Brochure
Doing print after spending so much time with web was a breath of fresh air. I starting missing Illustrator quite a bit!
This design is for a new business that makes and delivers home-style soups for offices and inner-city residents in Canada. I wish them the best, and this brochure will surely help get the word out for their services.
Ashes to Ink Tattoo Showcase
It has been a while since I had the opportunity fall into my lap to design something in my favorite style: grunge graffiti. I recently took a trip to the beautiful city of San Francisco, and was inspired by the incredible street art of Haight/Ashbury, and soon after this incredible chance fell into my lap. Ashes to Ink is a website where people can show off their tattoos, share them with each other, and make friends with like minded human canvases. Not only was the client very receptive to my designs, but the freedom with which I could create something completely different from his previous design gave me goosebumps. Soon after the design was completed, the client asked me to design a forum for him as well, which will soon be completed and will give this fantastic website an even more powerful presence on the web. I hope that I can continue doing designs such as this, and that more people learn about this great website.
Catholic Art Webpage Design
This design was for a Catholic art website. The page is used for thousands of different pieces of art, so creating a design to fit the restrictions that brings was a welcome challenge. I have also never developed anything religious, so it was a great new feel compared to my usual style.
Ocean Bikes Website
I went hunting for a good bike shop in the deepest south of California, and having found this small bike shop near the border on Yelp! with fantastic reviews, I came by for a look. The owners had a fantastic philosophy for their business: so many bikes are made and then thrown in the trash, why not recycle their parts and create something amazing out of older bikes? Ocean Bikes does just that, and after a conversation with the owners, they loved my work and wanted me to design a website for them that fit the image they were going for. With this shop being very close to home, I had a great deal of inspiration and it was an extremely fulfilling project to work on. I still ride my bike that I purchased from them every day, and it runs perfect!
Wingman: an iPhone game
A game designed for the iPhone. iPhone application design is a lot of fun, not only because it is so different from other types of design, but because I know that people all around the world are probably playing it, every day. The coding and programming language of the iPhone is so intuitive, I learned a little bit of it during this project from the client – and it was some very interesting stuff! I doubt that I will dedicate much more time to it, but it was a great experience to be able to design an iPhone application and I hope to create some Droid applications soon as well.
Holla! Mobile App Website
The design for the Holla! Mobile Application Website. Holla! is an application for various mobile phones that allows the user to send text and voice messages across various platforms. Although I did not design the application, I the owner is also the owner of the Blackout9 mobile hub website (http://www.Blackout9.com). This was my first mobile device-related website, and so I was very excited to see what new things I had to learn about the world of mobile phone website design. In addition to a mobile-friendly version of the website, various logos and graphics had to be specially designed for the visitor to view the website and download applications from a variety of devices.
Blackout 9 Mobile Hub
The design for a Mobile Application Hub website. The owner is an entrepeneur of various mobile applications, a few of which I have designed myself, and he felt that he should have a website to keep some of them together. An altered version can be seenĀ here but please note that any changes from the version you see on my portfolio were not done by me. The coding was also done by another.
Summer Shack Layout
The design for a seasonal clothing website. Living in California, I had a connection to the theme of this website – and an unlimited source of inspiration as well. Being able to wake up and ride my bike to the beach allowed me to picture exactly what I wanted for the design. The Summer Shack website marks my first step into a website based on non-paypal transactions as well, so it presented itself as a smooth transition from what I was used to before. With their new website up and running, the owners quickly improved their stock from simple swim wear to accessories and footwear as well.
Portfolio Redesign 2010
This is the 2010 redesign for my portfolio website. Over the years, my portfolio seems to never stop evolving – thus, my website must as well. I feel like after a couple of months I already will get the urge to come up with something new and cutting edge, for that is the way of my profession. However, I spent a great deal of time on this redesign, making sure that is was easier to look at, use, and enjoy than any of my previous revisions. The coding was done by the greatest coder I have ever known, my good friend Jason Stockman.
GamePad Blog Layout
A completely social-networking integrated blog design for a video game forum. The website at first was nothing but a collection of a few hundred members that wanted their blog posts to coalesce into something bigger – and I helped them achieve that. Although under a different name now, their blog has grown significantly and now they have a following similar to the giants such as Joystiq.com. Having a personal connection with the content of the website, it is still one of my most treasured designs and I had a superb time creating something for this small community that allowed them to spread their ideas to the world.
Autofreaks Forum Design
The design for the auto-enthusiast forum, Autofreaks. The website was originally a simple family owned business, designed at people who take beat up cars bought at auctions who then fix them up into machines of rubber-burning fury. After several days of discussing the design specifications of the sales website, the family decided on a forum as well – a place where people from anywhere in the world could show off their vicious remodelings of cars, trucks, buses, and everything in-between. Afterwards, their business exploded and went from a barely known local business to a country-wide company that allowed the family to expand themselves further than they ever thought possible.
Explore.CA Design
The design for a Canadian tourism website. What originally started out as an attempt by the owner to compete with websites like Trails.com, this website eventually was aimed at more of the old-fashioned Canadian adventurer. So many of the modern, professional tourist sites are riddled with ads and subscription fees – I brought Explore into the post-modern, with a fully immersed look that really allowed the visitor to sample the beauty that is Canadian wilderness. Therefore, I spent much time designing graphics that made the user feel like he was already in Canada, rather than on a website reading about it. From a purely artistic standpoint, this was one of the most thrilling projects I have ever been honored to work on.
Small Business Website Design
The design for a small startup company. The design was originally for a small startup business firm, but I ended up putting it up for a WordPress design template. It has since been taken down because it is a fairly old design, but it has been used and modified dozens of times for business ranging from dentistry and hospital offices, to accounting and financial institutions. This was the first design that I completely created and coded myself for WordPress.
