Background

I started my artist’s life in high school, taking an introduction to graphic design class my freshman year. Our school had just received new computers, and so the teachers as well as the students were thrilled to be working with cutting-edge technology. From the get-go, I learned quickly and soon began to work independently at home. Being quite young at the time, most of my work had to do with my passions back then – various TV shows, movies, comics, music, et cetera, but it was an immeasurably fun and useful way to spend my time that, until a few years ago, I never thought would bloom into any sort of a career. When that class ended, my passions never stopped; I kept creating more and more until college where I took my skills and tested them against higher education. By the time I started my first college-level courses in graphic design, I had already learned almost every little trick in Photoshop and Illustrator, and so the classes really were a bore to me. However, I gained much insight into the technicalities of photography, color theory, art history, and also found many new sources of inspiration among my peers and professors. I recall one of my classmates had a portfolio online and said that she was going to open a personal business and start designing for a living, a thought that surprisingly had not crossed my mind yet. I took her advice and did the same, and since then my business has grown to what you see today.

Experience

I have seven years of Photoshop and Illustrator experience, along with four years of Premiere and a year of HTML/CSS. My services have been used for posters, business cards, logos, websites, computer and phone applications, banners, wedding invitations, fliers, advertisements, promotional pamphlets, and more. Recently, I have begun to delve into the world of coding in order to allow my clients to have the full repertoire of web design in one person, and I have also begun video editing and rendering as well. Although my primary talents will likely always lie in graphic design, these other areas of design will allow me to service my clients’ every need without the need to hire a team of programmers and designers.

Creativity

I am a born and raised Californian, so I have been surrounded by artists all of my life – from San Francisco, all the way to San Diego. The influence on my hometown of ‘Surf City’ Huntington Beach can be seen on some of my work; the water, the people and the liberal, free-spirited mood of this wonderful state has always been a welcome inspiration. California is one of the craziest and most dynamic places in the world, and because of this, so does my style change in tune. With the heavily saturated world of artists, it is often hard to find someone who stands out who is also what you are looking for, so I am always looking for new ways to become inspired and grow my talents. I have never started or ended a project the same way, nor have I ever felt that I ‘recycled’ any of my ideas. When I begin a project, I do not just sit down in front of the computer and start grinding away – no, I walk around downtown, or the beach, or somewhere where the people and the art are always evolving and moving like a living canvas. So many designers out there just peruse the internet for their inspiration, which is a fantastic resource, but I feel that a more organic and real connection to the world blooms a truly dynamic style of design that surprises as much as it impresses.

Above and Beyond

Many graphic designers take on a handful of projects at once to maximize their profit, giving as little time as possible to each. I, however, prefer to work on one or two at most at a time to assure my client that they get all of the attention that they deserve. I am fluent in English, Japanese, and can speak conversationally in Polish as well, and use every form of contact there is – social networking, phone, e-mail, messaging, Skype, et cetera. Unless I am sleeping, I will contact you within the hour, and give you my full attention until you are comfortable to proceed. Of course, if you live in or near San Diego, I am happy to and even prefer to meet in person to discuss designs as well.
